A Tribute To My Loving Mom, Karen,
From "Codie"....
Sorry I stuck a pin in your balloon
didn't mean to make you cry,
old and ill, dumped at a shelter
was no classy way to die.
I closed my eyes so very tight
and prayed to The Dog God above,
to grant my final, but brief wish,
a home filled with unconditional love.
The journey was long, stopping along the way
the "bed and breakfasts" were really cool,
I was warmly greeted, received loving attention
one even had a pool!
The big day came, when I met you
tears of joy in both of our eyes,
while savoring all the love you gave
I knew His choice of you was so wise.
We both were given a wonderful chance
to leave our marks on each other,
in a ladylike way, without lifting a leg
for a short time I had a real Mother.
I want you to know I will never forget you
your love is with me and in my heart,
I ask that you smile when you think of me
till the day we're together, to never again part.
With much love, your "Codie"
